Two South Tyrolean directors win at the People’s Festival with a film about workers on Adriatic beaches – Culture and entertainment



BOLZANO. The movie “Sea View” South Tyrolean directors Julia Gutweniger I Florian Kofler won the Italian competition in 64th folk festival. The two directors chose to discuss working in tourism along the coasts of the Adriatic Sea, filming specifically in Jesolo, Sottomarina, Eraclea, Bibione, Lignano, Riccione, Rimini and Cattolica and using the dramaturgical consultancy of Tizza Cova and Rainer Frimmel. .

The film begins with shots of the winter season, when hordes of workers are at work defend the sand from storm surgesand ends in summer, with crowds of tourists and residents looking for their place in the sun, between fun and relaxation. They are the protagonists many people and companies working behind the scenessuch as those who make umbrellas and sunbeds, those who work in hotels undergoing renovation or in restaurants training new staff or in entertainment agencies, in local police departments, in water amusement parks or in lifeguard towers on the coast.

According to the competition jury, “Vista Mare” deserved to win because “by adopting an unusual view of reality in front of everyone, the authors succeed they reveal the grotesque and paradoxical side of the world that under the sun looks like fun and emotion. The world that is revealed here as a cold and millimeter mechanism that closes, deceives and is ultimately all-encompassing”. Produced by EutopiaFilm and Albola Film, “Vista Mare” has already been presented at some European festivals: after the Locarno Film Festival 2023 (“Semaine de la critique”) had its international premiere at the “Dok Leipzig” and the Austrian premiere at the “Viennale”, to continue with the “Duisburger Filmwoche” and the “Stockholm International Film Festival”.
