A dead longhorn has been found on the Oklahoma State fraternity lawn before the Texas game

Police say a dead longhorn bull was found on the Oklahoma State University football team’s lawn Friday, the day the school’s football team played the University of Texas Longhorns. Big 12 Championship game.

Police were notified just after 6:30 a.m. of the dead animal on the Farmhouse fraternity lawn, according to Stillwater Police Officer TJ Low.

The body had a tattoo on its side and its stomach had been cut open, according to the school’s newspaper, The O’Colly.

“It’s a very cruel offense to do, especially before the Big 12 Tournament,” Low told The Oklahoman. “There’s no point in doing this.”

A representative for the fraternity, which was founded in 1905 by agricultural students, did not return a call for comment.

Oklahoma State University said in a statement that it was “appalled by the shocking display of animal cruelty … at a location near a fraternity house.”

The university said Stillwater police and the university’s Office of Student Services and Conduct are investigating and “will take appropriate action based on the results of the investigation.”
